This is actually how the one-key navigation used to work in 4.2, and we had a bunch of feedback from people who wanted the old way, so we changed it back. However, you can change it back to the newer behaviour that we had in 5.0 by enabling the "General: Don't select the first item when using One Key Navigation" option in the Settings > Advanced Settings window
