Random crashes

29 discussion posts
I am finding that Clipboard Fusion will randomly crash, I only notice when I press the hotkey and the clipboard history list does not show.
There is no other sign that it has stopped.

I'm using version 5.8.4 but this has been happening for a while now, not sure when, but I've only recently put logging on and remembered to look when I restarted it.

In the attached log, I restarted Clipboard Fusion at 2020/09/01 10:33:21 (line 21454 in the log)

I did also find a crash report in Event Viewer, also attached.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe we have fixed this up in the latest 5.8.5 Beta. Could you give it a try and let me know how it works out?

  • On the ClipboardFusion Settings > Options tab, enable the "Check for new beta versions" option
  • Click Apply, then click Check for Updates

Hi Keith,

I've installed the beta version, will post back here if I notice it happening again.

Sorry I didn't reply before.

Installing the 5.8.5 Beta stopped the random crashes I was experiencing.

Unfortunately they have returned since installing the 5.8.6 (Beta 3), happed yesterday and again this morning.

Ok, strange! Could you send over another debug log the next time it crashes?

I'm having the same issue for months now. Didn't find the time and energy to report it earlier, and found Windows clipboard sometimes just enough.

But I love to use ClipboardFusion fully again, as I got the Pro Personal license.

Just like the OP, ClipboardFusion just crashes. No notifications, no nothing. I only notice when my shortcut is not working anymore. The icon in the taskbar is still present, but disappears when hovering over it. ClipboardFusion doesn't restart automatically.

Some information:
* Version: I had this issue with the latest official release (5.9) for months. But I just installed 5.9.1 beta 2 to see if that might fix it.
* Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise
* No other clipboard managers, except Windows 10 clipboard.

@jerone: Thanks for the update! Please let me know if it still crashes with the beta version. We're planning to release 5.9.1 Beta 3 soon as well.
