Hi,

I am sure this is possible and I am making a silly mistake somewhere. Here is the case and issue:

Case:
I have notepad open to paste couple of things I copied before. I use CTRL+' shortcut to bring up the history menu. It shows options like this:
0 ABC
1 DEF
2 GHI
3 JKL
4 MNO
5 PQR

I have the auto-paste on quick select option ticked with modifier set as just CTRL.

Issue:

Now I want to press CTRL+' and press CTRL+2 and want it to paste the GHI into the notepad file which I was typing in when I pressed CTRL+' to bring up history menu. However, for some reason it pastes "GHI" into the search/filter of history menu instead of the active app.

1. How can I auto-paste into the active app using just shortcuts (not mouse or up down on keyboard+enter).
2. How can I paste multiple items for the same case above without having to press CTRL+' again and again? (again without using mouse)

The "Auto-Paste on Quick Select" is for use outside of the Clipboard Manager window. So you can do either:
  • Ctrl + ` to open the History, then press just a number, like 2, or
  • Just press Ctrl + 2 to paste the second history item directly

To paste multiple items, the second method is best, because you can just do Ctrl + 2, Ctrl + 3, etc.

Hope that helps!

Hi Keith,

Thanks for taking time to answer my query. However, it doesn't work like that. When I press CTRL + 2 (for selecting second) it pastes into the clipboard menu as the text box is selected (with CTRL+'). I also tried that where it shows just history menu (without text box selection ALT+'), however, nothing is pasted in notepad in this case either.

Kindly look at the video. @18 seconds I pressed CTRL + 2 (with CTRL+' shortcut).

@34 seconds ALT+' is used and then repeated paste have no affects.

P.S : pressing ALT+' and then the number 2 works. Thanks for the clarification.

One more thing I noticed, I wonder if it's on purpose.

In the case of pressing ALT+' and then the number 5 (for example) . The sequence of the history item changes and whatever was at number 5 comes to the top and rest are moved one sequence down. Can it be configured that all items stay at their places?

The Ctrl + Num is for use without first opening the Clipboard Manager, so just focus Notepad, then press Ctrl + 2, it should paste the second item into Notepad.

Regarding the order changing when pasted, I believe we have an open request for an option to disable that, so I'll add your vote to it :)

Thanks!

Ah!!! This clarifies it. It's working. Yes, please do add my vote to it.

Also, one more feature request: Can we press the CTRL+[1-9] shortcuts while we see the menu so we know what exactly we are copying hehehe ? :D

Thanks alot Keith. Purchased ClipboardFusion to support you guys :)

On the Settings > Clipboard Manager tab, if you enable the "Keep Clipboard Manager open after losing focus" option, you can open it, then focus your other program and use the Ctrl + Num hotkeys to paste the different entries :)

We've just released a new ClipboardFusion Beta (http://www.clipboardfusion.com/Download/Beta) and on the Settings > Clipboard History tab, there's now a "Show Clipboard changes made by ClipboardFusion" option. If you disable that, pasted history items won't be moved to the top of the list.

Hope that helps!
