I get the error when beta 3 is trying to log in. I am sure about the email address and password.

It helps if the error message is more descriptive.

It sounds like ClipboardFusion is having some trouble connecting to the internet. Is it possible I could get some troubleshooting info from you to see if I can spot what is happening? Here's how to send it to me:

  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

I think the proxy section is what you're interested in.
Proxy
• Mode: UseIESettings
• Server:
• Server Port: 8080

It works on my home computer and not on my work computer so I assume it's the proxy server or firewall.

I hope there's a way to enter pinned entries without being online. Otherwise this is going too extreme and too inflexible. There should be way to manually enter pinned entries.

Also note that I can have two computers and I don't necessarily have to have the same pinned items on both. I can have work related pinned items on my work computer and don't want them on my home computer and vice versa. Please make the syncing functionality optional and NOT the only way for it to work!

If you're using a proxy or firewall at work, that is most likely the culprit :). In the current version there is no way to add pinned items without an internet connection, but we're looking to add offline pinned items in a future beta. I'll add your vote to our feature request list and let you know when we implement it.

Thanks!

Why not use regular http over port 80 connection? Proxy servers and firewalls are common in work environments. This functionality in ClipboardFusion is trying to be so 'cool' that it's totally unusable for me.. which frustrates me. KISS principle.

ClipboardFusion uses HTTPS over the regular port (443), but it's possible your work is blocking the URL, not the port. Could you send a debug log? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Try to login
  • Send us the %LOCALAPPDATA%\ClipboardFusion\ClipboardFusion.log file (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)

I tried https://www.binaryfortress.com/API/V1/Authenticate/?TargetAPI=104 in Chrome and WebSense the filtering software popped up and I had to give it permission to continue. Your url is blocked by Websense.

Any workarounds?

There aren't any workarounds that we could do from our end, no. You'd have to ask your company IT department to unblock our API URL.

That's not an option. It's a large company and just to find who to contact is a nightmare. Then I need a business justification. Using a Clipboard manager is not a good one.

You guys really need to let us add sticky clipboard items without the complexity of being online. I don't want to have two of my computers sharing clipboard items.

The latest ClipboardFusion Beta versions now have the ability to keep a persistent local history, and you can pin items locally as well, without having to sync them :)

Thanks!

I'm also getting this error since i just updated to the latest beta version (I was on 4.x something before and figured i give the beta versions a go).

I didn't change anything in my settings between versions - it's just that the new version will not connect to my account and gives the error message.

I have to turn off clipboard syncing in order to even be able to save (and close) the settings page.

I can paste up my logs if it would help but from what i have observed - something broke in the more recent beta releases for clipboard syncing - and i'd go as far as saying the 'login' section of the settings page is broken.

i haven't tried a full uninstall/reinstall but wanted to let you guys know there is a bug before going ahead.

Hey guys! We're having some server troubles today but we're actively working on it. We'll hopefully have everything back up and running soon.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience!

yeah i can confirm it is not related to the beta releases. i just went back to 4.2 and i'm still getting the same error message.

i did notice that clipboardfusion.com wasn't responding earlier today so figured it might be server related.
