Unfortunately, to this day it has still not been fixed completely. When the tray menus for History, Local Pinned Items, Macros, etc. were originally re-added to ClipboardFusion v5.0, all of them had a problem whereby the tooltips for the entries would appear where the mouse cursor was positioned and the result was that you'd get a blinking/flashing tooltip for those entries near the bottom of the screen where the tooltip was trying to display in the same area as where the mouse cursor was.

Eventually, Binary Fortress was able to fix the issue for the 'Clipboard History' and 'Local Pinned Items' submenus in the tray menu. Unfortunately, they've never been able to apply the same fix for the Macros submenu, despite many emails back and forth discussing it. So when I saw v5.6 Beta 1 posted today, I was excited to see this in the changelog: "Fix: Tooltips in tray menu no longer blink".

But, alas, the Macros tray menu is still not fixed. It's not clear what that changelog entry actually refers to.

I'm posting this here in the forum in the hopes that it brings the issue to the attention of more people and in the hopes that it will someday get fixed.

We're very excited to announce that ClipboardFusion 5.6 Beta 1 is now available for download! This version has a few minor changes and bug fixes.

ClipboardFusion 5.6 Beta 1 Highlights

  • Fix: Clipboard Manager search now searches friendly names (Item alias) in addition to Item content
  • Change: Tray menu for local History/Pinned Items will now show image thumbnails
  • Fix: Tooltips in tray menu no longer blink
  • Change: 'Sync All Online Items and Show Popup' and 'Sync All Online Items' will now show a notification if the items are already fully synced
  • Fix: Macros now run quicker, especially when called from other Macros
  • Change: Moved the 'Don't select the first list item' (for one-key navigation) option to the main Settings window (Settings > Clipboard Manager tab)
